Strategic Client TANDBERG Wins 2010 Social Media Award from Northern Virginia Technology Council

Silver Spring, MD (June 28, 2010) – The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s (NVTC) Social Media Committee has announced Strategic Communications Group (Strategic) client TANDBERG as the winner of the 2010 Social Media Award in the “best use of corporate blog” category for its Break Down the Walls social media portal.

TANDBERG, the leading provider of video teleconferencing (VTC) technologies, worked with Strategic to launch Break Down the Walls to reach the niche community of government decision makers responsible for technology investments. The blog was designed to convince these decision makers that VTC solutions could address major challenges facing the military, federal civilian agencies, state/local municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare providers and public safety.

Since the launch of the blog, it has been an effective tool for putting TANDBERG’s message of faster, more effective and more efficient government through VTC in front of government decision makers. The blog was re-designed in March and continues to receive impressive traffic from a predominantly public sector audience, with a loyal base of readers who spend significant time on the site, and return frequently.

The awards program included six categories and winners were selected by three judges, all social media leaders in the Washington, D.C., area, including Amber Harris (@TheNuwanda) with Discovery Communications; Shashi Bellamkonda (@shashib) with Network Solutions; and Brian Dresher (@bdresher) of USATODAY.com.
