Without a doubt we are entering into a unique era of government technology. While agencies are being tasked with doing more with less, the need to provide innovative applications while also managing network performance and bandwidth has never been more critical.

Government employees are demanding access to web applications that are driven by social media adoption, while program managers and executives are adapting new technologies to increase efficiencies such as video teleconferencing (VTC). This shift in technology use is creating a demand for secure, reliable and optimized performance on the network.

Conversely, network and security administrators are tasked with the tremendous challenge of protecting against malware, data leaks and online threats; monitoring and analysis of application usage; and performance and detection and acceleration of applications across the network. We all know this is a tall order, especially in the face of government IT budget cuts.

Welcome to Blue Print, the official blog of Blue Coat, which aims to be the online informational resource for government network and security administrators and other government IT staff whose main role is to make sure that all web applications are fully optimized and secure.

On an ongoing basis, we will be featuring news, insights and commentary from government IT and security experts, Blue Coat customers and partners, as well as other third-parties who believe in the value of fully optimized IT for government.

We built this site to for you. So, please feel free to post a comment or provide your insights in the form of a guest post or podcast. An online community is only successful if we have many participants. Blue Print is truly a forum where your voice will be heard and knowledge will be shared every day. So strap on your boots and come along for the ride as we uncover new and innovative ways for government IT to be fully optimized.
